Youth Privacy & Digital Safety Guide (Ages 13–17)

Welcome to Timbrii! Music is personal, and your online privacy should be too. If you are between 13 and 17 years old, we give you automatic high-privacy protections so you can log your music and connect with friends safely.

1. Strict Minimum Age (13+)

You must be at least 13 years old to use Timbrii. We do not permit accounts for children under 13 under any circumstances. If an account is created by someone under 13, it will be promptly removed upon discovery in accordance with global child privacy laws (COPPA 16 C.F.R. § 312).

2. Your Account Starts Private by Default

When you register as a minor (13–17), your profile is automatically set to Private. This means:

  • Only people you approve as followers can see your profile, music logs, reviews, and concert history.
  • Strangers cannot browse your listening activity or search for your private lists.
  • You choose who gets to follow you; anyone new must send a follow request first.

3. Safe Direct Messaging: Mutual Follows Only

On Timbrii, adults or strangers cannot send you unsolicited direct messages. To open a direct message conversation or share music privately, both of you must follow each other (a confirmed mutual friendship). If someone follows you, they cannot message you unless you follow them back.

4. Zero External AI Profiling (Google Gemini Disabled)

We do not use your reviews, journal entries, or music taste to train external artificial intelligence models. Third-party AI analysis (Google Gemini) is completely turned off for teen accounts across our entire platform. Your thoughts on albums and tracks stay between you and your approved friends.

5. Zero Commercial Tracking or Targeted Ads

We never track your behavior across other websites or sell your personal data. Commercial promotions and sponsored discovery recommendations are completely disabled for minor accounts.

6. You Control Your Concert Tags

If someone tags you in a concert log ("Attended with...") and you don't want your name associated with that event or location, you can remove your tag at any time without asking them.

7. How to Block or Report Someone

If anyone is bothering you, making you feel uncomfortable, or breaking our community guidelines, you can:

  • Block them: Go to their profile or message menu and select "Block User". They will not be able to see your profile or message you.
  • Report content: Use our confidential reporting portal at /report to report harassment, inappropriate messages, or unauthorized images. Our team investigates reports promptly.

8. Exporting Your Data or Deleting Your Account

You have the right to download a copy of all your data or permanently delete your account at any time:

  • Download Data: You can download a complete JSON export of your reviews, lists, and activity at /api/users/me/export.
  • Delete Account: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data through your account settings or our Privacy Rights Portal. Once deleted, your account is purged irreversibly.
